Yoga Practice: a dedicated morning

Doing yoga in the morning is sometimes equated to a similar importance of eating breakfast each morning. The only thing I have an issue with, with that... I rarely ate breakfast in the morning.

I had a routine of wanting to set a routine, but never took action. Recently, I've started eating breakfast. More recently, I have a routine...

I believe something that stops us from change is that it's dramatic. It requires us to prepare in order to begin and we get side tracked in the preparing stages, leaving the actual things we want to do or try to the sidelines.. So this morning practice doesn't require you to make a massive change. It requires only that you wake up 30 minutes before you normally would or simply stop looking at your telephone/social media when you're doing the morning bathroom session.... Oh, yes, that's right, I know how long it takes to use the washroom in the morning versus how much additional time we spend on the throne because we are stuck in the endless scroll. This is a real life morning practice. Here's the deal, DO IT MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY. That's it, twice a week wake up 30 minutes earlier than you did today and practice. I'll go a layer deeper each few days online with it. I'm sticking to this morning practice, it's helped me shift my mood (external energy) and my own frequency of emotions (internal energy)... and I can't wait to hear your experience.

I hope you'll do this, this "challenge" with me... let's cross this one off your list. Together.

Now that you are pumped with this NEW energy, let's talk about variations. Did you ever read a Goosebumps book, the kind where you got to choose the scenario, therefor getting several possible story endings!? You ended up reading both anyways... So in reality, it didn't matter which "variation" you chose... With that same kind of joyful and exciting perspective, I have added a few special "extras" to my morning asana, try some, try all, try none... whatever way works for you, just try:

  1. I like to have warm water or coffee nearby because I avoid the experience of being cold/experiencing shivers so I drink the warm water (it's really coffee) between movements and continue along

  2. I move where my reading/writing time is in the practice, if I have something I neeeeed to write down, I just stop, write it down and continue

  3. During a couple of these postures I will exhale with sound and I also ohmmmm three times, most of the time I practice

  4. I set the timer on my phone for 20 minutes, if I happen to finish the sequence before the 20 minute timer ends, I stay on my mat in meditation. I do not end practice until the timer has gone. These are simply variations to try for yourself, be your own student and learn about your practice.

With love,

Brittaney
