My heart, my words.. your screen, your body... Your Practice.

with love,

Brittaney

tadasana; mountain pose; standing -- this shape is often overlooked in the mind's keenness. The simplicity of having your own practice is rather startling, really. Try practicing: With no other focus, stand and close your eyes. Stay standing until you are still. You may naturally sway a bit, that’s okay, but stand still until your mind no longer has to repeat the instruction to “stand still” … in the process of allowing this to happen you may notice tightness in your jaw, relax your tongue and eyebrows… draw the awareness down, settle the shoulders – in an unhurried way, move them until your feel broad across your chest and comfortable down your shoulder blades. Let the centre of the earth attract your fingertips, your arms long. Let your stomach bloat out, let your breath find all the spaces it’s rejected at first attempt to enter… breathe slower and foster longer breathes into the space lower than the band of your pants. Notice now how your feet are purposely attached to the ground. They’re not there because gravity demands it; your toes connect, grant your arch’s freedom, feel the support and strength from your ankles and your legs.

You are standing.

Breathe a few times here.. continuing the loop of awareness coming back to your head, shoulders, stomach, feet… repeat the cycle of awareness with the breath.

When you are ready to move, move.

If you want to stay, keep breathing.

Your mind, your body - your practice.
